Sustainability, what it means for us

Our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals

Agenda 2030 and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) as adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015, guide and call for action of governments, businesses and society to ensure sustainable development worldwide. The 17 SDGs address our main global challenges like climate change, preservation of oceans, forests and fertile soils, as well as preventing social inequality.

We support organic and biodynamic agriculture as sustainable agricultural practice, therewith contributing to climate protection (SDG 13), preservation of ecosystems, fertile soils and biodiversity (SDG 15) and clean and uncontaminated water (SDG 6).

According our values the supply chain as a chain of value creation, means for us that all actors along this value chain require appreciation, cooperation and solidarity. We act to reach food sovereignty (SDG 2) and equality (SDG 10) of all actors in the supply chain. In practise, this is reflected in our just and fair pricing for raw materials and commodities and in establishing fair partnerships.

Further, the production of pesticide-free food enables both a healthier and more nutritious diet supporting the health of consumers and agricultural producers, as well as the well-being of society due to a sustainable regional development (SDG 3).

We are committed to the concept of associative economics, in which the core values are cooperation, solidarity and fairness, both within the company and with our business partners. For us, corporate growth is not an end in itself; therefore, long-term partnerships are preferred instead of short-term price-driven relationships. This results in a transparent supply chain and our contribution to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

Our business activity contributes to an environmentally and socially responsible production and sustainable consumption (SDG 12).

By means of social commitment and associative economics, the Oikopolis Group relies on partnerships that support each other in mutual respect, thus promoting sustainable development for all (SDG 17).
